Interview with Cineuropa on Netflix’s Impact on European TV Production

I spoke with Cineuropa about my research on how Netflix is reshaping European television production cultures. Drawing from my open-access journal article, “Local Production for Global Streamers,” the interview explores the streamers influence on both the logistics of production work—such as IP ownership, remuneration, and data access—and creative practices, including how stories are developed and shaped by algorithmic insights.

We also discuss the concept of “streaming lore,” cultural disconnects, and the evolving role of European screenwriters in an increasingly globalized media landscape.
